Engineering Background

I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. I completed the CSU Professional Learning Institute – Leadership training course, and  I was the project leader of an award winning Senior Design project.

During my undergrad, I held a multi-year internship with Nestle Purina, as a software developer. Later I took an internship with Xilinx, where I conducted power consumption characterization on leading edge FPGAs.

I spent 7 years at STMicroelectronics, where I performed a device validation role on prototype Motor-Controller/Power combo ASICs, as well as design work for supporting the business. Working as both an application engineer and a hardware design engineer.

Presently, I’m working in the medical technology industry at Stryker Corporation.

-Albert Einstein

Programming Background

I began programming at a young age, beginning with BASIC on my fathers Apple II GS, eventually moving into QBASIC, Visual Basic, then progressing into more complex programming languages. I’ve learned, and worked on projects using C, C++, Python, Perl, Java and VB.NET. I have also spent considerable time on web development with HTML, CSS, ASP(.NET), and Javascript/jQuery.

Why do I blog?

My main reason for blogging is so that I can chronicle all of my adventures and projects while I learn and develop as a professional Engineer.

I have a full slew of hobby projects that I want to get started, and I think this will be a good avenue to share what I’m working on. My hope is that the content I create here will help, benefit, inform or at least entertain the readers.

What else do I do?

I’m interested in computer generated graphics. Despite my lack of artistic talent, I like to dabble in Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as 3D graphics in Blender. It would be fun to work on a graphics engine, or raytracing software down the line, we’ll see what projects I find time for.

Besides my very geeky interests, I also enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, soccer, playing guitar, running, kayaking and drinking a cold pint with good friends.
